Help us save Little Girl’s leg!
Urgent Call to Action: Justice for Little Girl 🐾
On Friday, December 6th, DDBBR received a heartbreaking and urgent call from a local family in our community. Their 8-month-old puppy, Little Girl, was tragically shot on Thursday, December 5th in an incident that has shocked and saddened everyone.
The family explained that Little Girl and another dog had managed to slip loose from their yard. They ran near the perimeter of a neighbor's property but were only gone for 1–2 minutes when the family heard a gunshot. The dogs came running back instantly and the owners realized she had been shot.
The bullet had entered and exited her leg, leaving her bone shattered. Bleeding profusely, her owners immediately called 911 and sought guidance from a family member who is a vet tech. With no funds for an emergency vet visit, they worked quickly to clean the wound, stop the bleeding, and administer pain relief with Novox.
Immediate Medical Needs
Today, DDBBR stepped in to help by covering an initial vet appointment at Westwood Animal Hospital. The x-rays confirmed the worst: Little Girl's bone was shattered, and she now faces two options:
- Amputation (Approx. $1,200)
- Orthopedic Surgery at VVS (Approx. $3,500)
We provided an x-ray, pain management, antibiotics, and a thorough exam. However, the veterinarian has made it clear—we must act by Monday. Until then, her family is carrying her outside to potty and keeping her safely crated.
At just 8 months old, Little Girl is full of life and sweetness. She deserves a chance to heal and thrive. But we can’t do it without your help.
What Can You Do?
- Donate: Any amount will help us cover the costs of surgery or amputation. Every dollar brings Little Girl closer to the care she urgently needs.
- Support the Family: Send messages of encouragement and compassion during this difficult time.
- Raise Awareness: Share Little Girl’s story to inspire kindness and accountability within our community.
- Advocate for Change: Push for stricter laws and community measures to protect pets and prevent senseless violence.
DDBBR is committed to standing by Little Girl and her family during this challenging time. Together, we can give her the second chance she deserves and ensure no pet suffers like this again.
Time is critical—we have just 48 hours. Let’s make it happen.
